In Honkai: Star Rail, Trailblaze Power is what players commonly refer to as stamina, and it’s the primary source of all character progression resources in the game. For new Trailblazers who haven’t hit level 60 yet, misallocating your Trailblaze Power won’t just slow down your character progression — it also wastes days of accumulated resources and makes you miss your best window to rank up quickly. This guide breaks down the most cost-effective Trailblaze Power planning for new players under level 60, helping you build a competent team as fast as possible with minimal waste.
The reason we specifically use a separate allocation logic for pre-level 60 play boils down to the game’s drop system: Equilibrium Level unlocks as your account level increases, and you won’t gain access to the maximum Equilibrium Level until you reach level 60. Only after unlocking this highest tier do all dungeons open up their maximum level drop rewards. You’ll not only get more drops per run, you’ll also have a much higher chance to get high-quality rewards. Because of this, the core principle for pre-level 60 play is simple: prioritize raising your account level to unlock maximum gains first, then farm for endgame gear slowly later. This approach is always far more efficient than wasting stamina on unnecessary farms early on.
When you’re still a brand new player just starting out, your first priority should be clearing every main story and open world quest. Quests give far more account experience than running dungeons, so they’ll push your level up the fastest. Any leftover Trailblaze Power after clearing all available quests should go entirely toward farming character experience, ascension materials, and Trace materials. Focus on maxing out your main team’s levels first, so you can clear Equilibrium Trials quickly and unlock higher reward tiers faster.
We strongly advise against running Relic Dungeons at this stage. Not only is your chance of getting a 5-star relic extremely low, any relics you do get are just temporary gear that you will definitely replace later in the game. Spending tons of Trailblaze Power here is a straight-up waste that will only slow down your overall progression.
Once you reach level 40, your Equilibrium Level increases, so you can adjust your Trailblaze Power allocation slightly: first, cover all your main team’s needs for Trace upgrades and character ascension. If you have leftover Trailblaze Power after that, spend roughly one-third of it running Relic Dungeons to farm a mixed 4-star and 5-star temporary set for your main damage dealer. This set only needs to provide enough damage to push through main story content and clear Simulated Universe, nothing more.
Never dump all of your stamina into farming full 5-star sets or perfect substats at this stage. The overall relic drop efficiency at this level is still far lower than it is at level 60, so the amount of wasted Trailblaze Power adds up to a very significant amount over time.
After hitting level 50, you’re not far away from unlocking max-tier drops at level 60. At this point, we recommend spending most of your Trailblaze Power stocking up on universal resources, such as ascension materials of all rarities and basic Trace materials. These resources will always be needed no matter how many characters you end up building later in the game, so you can never farm too many of them — none of your investment will go to waste.
Only if you’ve already maxed out the levels and Traces of your current main team should you spend leftover Trailblaze Power on relics. Again, you don’t need to chase perfect stats here; anything usable is fine. Saving your stamina to farm for endgame gear after hitting level 60 is still the most cost-efficient choice.
Beyond incorrect allocation, there are a few common new player pitfalls you should specifically avoid:
First, letting your Trailblaze Power cap out and go unused. Once Trailblaze Power hits the maximum limit, it stops regenerating naturally. If you leave it capped for more than half a day, that’s equal to wasting almost an entire full bar of stamina. Remember to log in every day at least to spend any excess Trailblaze Power before it goes to waste.
Second, running the “ember for pulls” exchange just to get light cones. Each pull costs 60 Trailblaze Power, which is an extremely high cost for early game, and the value is far lower than just farming progression materials. Unless you’re just one pull away from a key 5-star light cone, we don’t recommend this at all.
Third, stopping your level progression to farm low-level materials. Many new players think low-level dungeons cost less stamina, so they intentionally hold off on leveling up to farm low-level content repeatedly. In reality, running low-level dungeons at a higher Equilibrium Level gives you extra rewards, so your overall gain is still higher. Never stop leveling to farm resources.
Overall, the core of Trailblaze Power allocation for new players under level 60 can be summed up as “Level up first, farm for perfection later, don’t chase perfect gear early, and stock up on universal materials first”. If you plan your resources around this logic, you’ll not only push through progression much faster, you’ll also have a much higher gear farming efficiency after hitting level 60 than players who wasted their stamina early on.
